Tool Safety Certification Training
Hand and power tools are an essential part of daily operations across construction, manufacturing, maintenance, and technical industries. Improper tool selection, poor maintenance, unsafe operation, and failure to follow safety procedures can result in serious injuries, electric shock, burns, and other workplace accidents. Therefore, proper employee training is essential to ensure safe work practices, reduce occupational risks, and maintain compliance with workplace safety standards.
The Hand and Power Tool Safety intensive theoretical and practical training program is designed to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge of the safe selection, operation, maintenance, and inspection of hand and portable power tools. The program is based on OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart P – Hand and Portable Powered Tools and Other Hand-Held Equipment and provides participants with internationally recognized theoretical knowledge and practical skills for preventing workplace injuries.
Program Components
1. Fundamentals of Hand and Power Tool Safety
- Basic principles of hand and power tool safety;
- Proper tool selection and safe operation;
- Ergonomic hazards associated with hand tools and methods of prevention;
- Hazards resulting from improper tool use and inadequate maintenance.
2. Safe Use of Hand Tools
- Safe operation of single-handled and double-handled tools;
- Proper storage, maintenance, inspection, and timely replacement of hand tools;
- Safe work practices when using hand tools.
3. Power Tool Safety
- High-risk power tools and associated hazards;
- Use of guards and protective safety devices;
- Power tool controls and operating safety requirements;
- Safe use of extension cords;
- Grounding principles and electrical hazards;
- Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs): purpose and proper use;
- Importance of double insulation in portable electric tools.
4. Safe Work Practices
- Selection and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
- Best practices for the safe operation of power tools;
- Preventive measures to reduce the risk of injuries, electric shock, and other workplace hazards.
