Hazardous Chemicals Safety in the Workplace is an intensive theoretical and practical training designed to introduce participants to the key requirements of OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (HCS 2012, 1910.1200), chemical labeling requirements, the proper use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and practical measures for protecting employees from hazardous chemical exposure.

Program Components

1. Hazardous Chemicals and Key Risks
• Hazardous chemicals found in the workplace;
• Health and safety risks associated with chemical exposure;
• Chemical hazard identification and key principles for employee protection.

2. Hazard Communication Standard (HCS)
• OSHA Hazard Communication Standard (HCS 2012, 1910.1200) and its key requirements;
• Employer and employee responsibilities;
• Training and education requirements under the Hazard Communication Program.

3. Chemical Labeling
• Original/manufacturer-provided container labels;
• Workplace labeling requirements for secondary containers;
• Labeling of stationary, portable, and alternative containers;
• Proper interpretation and use of information provided on chemical labels.

4. Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• Purpose and practical use of SDS;
• The 16 sections of an SDS and the key information contained in each section;
• SDS management responsibilities of manufacturers, importers, distributors, and employers;
• Using SDS to assess and control chemical hazards.
