Improper use of ladders and stairways is a common cause of falls and serious workplace injuries. Proper ladder selection, safe positioning, inspection, and compliance with safe-use procedures are essential in construction, production, maintenance, and repair activities.

“Ladder and Stairway Safety” is an intensive training designed to introduce participants to the requirements for safe use of different types of ladders, proper climbing and descending techniques, the Three-Point Contact method, safe ladder positioning, and determining the appropriate angle. The program also covers ladder inspection, stair rail and handrail safety requirements, and key principles for preventing workplace risks.

• General requirements for the safe use of portable ladders;
• Principles of proper ladder selection and use.

2. Safe Ladder Access and Movement
• Three-Point Contact method when climbing and descending;
• Safe ladder positioning;
• Determining the proper ladder angle;
• Prevention of fall risks associated with ladders.

3. Ladder Inspection and Maintenance Safety
• Regular ladder inspections;
• Identification of damage and technical defects;
• Maintaining ladders in safe operating condition;
• Ladder safety requirements during and after construction activities.

4. Stair Rails, Handrails and Workplace Safety
• Purpose of Stair Rails, Handrails, and Mid Rails;
• Structural and safety requirements for rails;
• Control and prevention of risks associated with ladders and stairways.
