Ethylene Oxide (EtO) is one of the most widely used sterilizing agents in healthcare, particularly for medical devices and surgical instruments that cannot withstand high temperatures or moisture. Although highly effective, ethylene oxide is a toxic, flammable, and carcinogenic chemical that can cause serious acute and chronic health effects if not properly controlled.

This training provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of ethylene oxide applications, occupational hazards, exposure assessment and control measures, safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and applicable international safety standards.   • OSHA Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL) and Short-Term Exposure Limits (STEL).

3. Safe Work Practices

  • Selection and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE);
  • Engineering controls and ventilation requirements;
  • Emergency response procedures and first aid measures;
  • Safe operating procedures when working with ethylene oxide.

4. Responsibilities and Regulatory Requirements
